Manitoba’s Justice Minister, Matt Wiebe, announced a new initiative on Monday aimed at promoting safety across the province. The initiative offers a $300 rebate to encourage homeowners and businesses to invest in security equipment.
Wiebe mentioned that the rebate applies to purchases made since September 1 of the previous year, with the application process set to open in June. Eligible items for the rebate include security cameras, alarm systems, motion detectors, and other similar equipment. However, ongoing subscriptions and monthly fees for alarm systems are not covered by this rebate.
“This initiative is a component of our broader government strategy to enhance community safety and reduce expenses for Manitobans,” Wiebe stated. “By utilizing this rebate, residents can install various security measures in their homes or businesses and save money in the process.”
The rebate program, which was first outlined in the province’s 2024 budget, will operate on a first-come, first-served basis once applications begin.
